The State is Safekeeping your Dollars
If you are tired of clicking on a link to find out if you have any money available only to get advertisements from people wanting to charge a fee for this service or worst take a percentage of the find, then know there is a legitimate site you can go to and find out if the state is holding money for you.
Maybe you moved before receiving a refund from a utility company. Some one could have sent you money unbeknownst to you. Maybe you were entitled to some insurance premium after canceling a policy. And if you are lucky enough maybe a long lost relative left you an inheritance.
In any case, the United States does have a repository for these funds. You don't have to pay a dime. You can go directly to the website at www.unclaimed.org and just click on your state. In my state which happens to be Florida you will see a glaring yellow sun in the center which reads search for unclaimed property just enter your name to find out if you have anything due to you or anyone in your family. The site will prompt you to enter your current address and date of birth and you can either print the claim form or choose to have it mailed. You wait for the form , fill it out and send it in with a copy ofyour photo id for verification and wait for your money to come in the mail.
True Finds
I've known about this site and have checked it in the past for family and friends. Today I was able to find a western union transaction sent and never collected by my husband for $60 . I also found two different refunds due from insurance companies to my sister in law. Neither was for any substantial amount. One was for $115 the other for $27.64 . Recently an attorney friend of mine called to say that after checking the site he had 3 separated transactions pending , one which was for a whooping $2500. You probably won't become rich from any of these finds but the money is yours, at one point you earned it , why not claim it ?

I didn't knew that this was legit until about two days ago, when I stumbled across the website. A friend of mine reassured me that it was legit. I found $15 total in my unclaimed funds, exciting stuff.
