Happy Birthday to You Dr. Seuss
One of my favorite authors because of the simply engaging characters he has produced over the years is Dr. Seuss. Today is his birthday so lets help him celebrate by keeping his memory alive. His books already help accomplish this by remaining on the shelves of bookstores around the world. 20 years after his death his books are ever so popular and easy and fun for our young readers. Picture books for little ones help motivate our kids to continue to read, learn, and laugh. Dr. Seuss’s out of this world funky characters are a hoot for children and grown up alike.
Favorites in Books and Movies
Theodor Seuss Geisel - The Man
Theodor Seuss Geisel an American children’s book writer, cartoonist and illustrator known to many of us by his pen name Dr. Suess has published over the course of his career over 44 books. Imaginative, silly colorful characters who speak in rhyme and verse. Dr Seuss didn’t make a point of attaching morals to his stories as he thought children could smell them miles away. He did think however, that every book had its inherent moral.
Born on March the 2nd, his birthday has become the annual date for National Read Across America Day. He would have been 107 years today, March 2, 2011.
Favorite Quotes:
"I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful, one hundred percent."

"You're off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting,
So... get on your way!"

I always like those stories. There's always a child me; I think everyone does. Thanks for sharing!
I wish I had a dollar for every time I read a Dr. Seuss book to one of my children. We all love those books and this is a very neat hub that takes me down memory lane. Thanks for sharing.
I think there is still a child in many of us.
Mine pops up quite often and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I really enjoyed this one and thanks for sharing.
Take care
Eiddwen.
Dr. Seuss books were the ones I would never tire of reading to my sons. Can't wait to read them some day to the grand children that I may have :)
Early on, I was one of the few first graders who could read the story "beneath" Seuss' work if you catch my meaning. This was one of the few children's book series that actually uses subtlty and imagery to teach the larger picture.
The Lorax was way before it's time. It's almost a haunting tale with predictions that are coming true. Thank you for sharing.
I do love green eggs and ham. And this hub. I would read it in a house, I would read it with a mouse. My laptop doesn't have a mouse, though. But great job. Dr Suess was a legend. And just interested, what are your thoughts on Frog and Toad?
I LOVE Dr Seuss He was really a brilliant man and many people dont know that he did so much more than the childrens books. Today is my Unbirthday! Today I am I! :0)
Oh my gosh I LOVE this hub! Brilliant! I was absolutely crazy for Dr. Seuss books growing up. My favorite was 'Hooper Humperdink..Not Him!' It's one of the lesser known books but it used to crack me up and now my 3 year old loves it as well. Thanks for writing this wonderful hub and keeping the love of Dr. Seuss going. voted up and all across the board.

I loved Seuss as a child. Too bad many reading programs are not focusing on phonics anymore.
