October: Sharing is Caring

The month of October is a perfect month to share the season with little ones. Anticipation builds with every Halloween related activity. Little ones look forward to a special day just for them. Apart from birthdays, and other holidays, Halloween promises them a load of fun. From thinking about what they would like to be and helping prepare their costumes to dreaming of candy corn and sweet treats, the month of October is the beginning of season which pleasantly helps bring out our little ones personality. There are plenty of fun free activities to share with them.

Temperatures drop and the cool crisp air reminds you a great season is just ahead.

Varied scents of smell everywhere you go - vanilla and pumpkin spice are my favorite.

Strolls in the park to view fallen leaves.

Churches and random parking lots full of pumpkin patches.

Proud farmers displaying their huge pumpkins crop.

Fall festivals.

Carving the jack-o-lanterns.

Roasting the pumpkin seeds.

Playing dress up without others thinking you are demented.

Making your costumes is always more fun than the alternative of purchasing one. If you lack creativity look up some cheap and great ideas on the internet, a library book, or plainly experiment with household fabrics, paint and old clothes.

I remember my daughters first Halloween. As new and struggling parents we looked for ways of finding inexpensive things to do and when holidays came around we certainly got creative. Working at a woman’s clothing retail shop our discount was 40 percent back then. I bought a black and white satin purse for a few bucks minus my discount, made two holes on the bottom to put my one year old babies leg through and purchased some bunny ears and just like that she turned into the most beautiful playboy bunny.

Kids don’t really know what things cost, what they do know is how much effort you put in to make them feel special. So really its not about the most expensive costumes you can afford or spending loads of money entertaining them, what they want is your input, help and love to guide their choices. Sharing is caring, please don’t forget that this season!

The holiday season under these hard times doesn’t have to be depressing! Rethink your purpose and spend time with the ones you love and the little guys. Do something you’ve never done before and try to remember to just have fun!
